Late because Camp NaNoWriMo started and I forgot all about this. Yikes.
I've been on a YA Contemporary kick lately. It shows.
Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy- I found the MC to be a pretty terrible person, but I enjoyed the story and what the book tried to do.
Afterparty by Ann Redisch Stampler - I don't think there was a single decent character in this book. They were all terrible people. However, this book reminded me how much I actually go love reading YA Contemporary. For whatever reason, I love reading about all the drama teenagers in high school make for themselves. I guess as long as it's not happening to me.
Ask the Passengers by A.S. King- A wonderful story about a girl coming to terms with her sexuality, and not wanting to be labelled as one thing. She understands better than most how problematic it can be and that sexuality is fluid.
The Edge of Falling by Rebecca Serle- We all deal with grief differently, and Caggie's definitely felt real. The decisions she made while in grief, are understandable. At least for a person who is dealing with grief. Can't stand the name Caggie though.
Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens- A really well done rape recovery story. The relationship between Bodee and Alexi is incredibly sweet and moving.
Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen - TROLLS! I was swept away by this story. It was unputdownable. This books is full of magic, politics, romance, revolution, survival, and it has wonderfully written characters and is just entertaining to read. I was a little disappointed that the main male troll, the love interest, wasn't physically disfigured AT ALL, but the book more than makes up for it.
I also read quite a few books that just really didn't do it for me. If you want to find everything I read, you can always follow me on Goodreads.
